The Subjects I Am Failing, and Why I Will Not Quit

Let me be plain: my marks are not good. I have stared at the same page until the letters blurred and still walked into the exam with nothing. For a girl who wants to teach one day, that is a bitter thing to admit.

Talent is loud. Stubbornness is quieter, but it lasts longer.

There was a rude, blunt boy who came to tutor us. I threw him out the first time — I did not want pity dressed up as help. I was wrong about him. He never once told me I was hopeless. He just kept showing me the next step, and then the next.

I am not suddenly brilliant. But my grades have moved, and they moved because I refused to stay where I was. If you are struggling too: keep your seat. The desk does not care how slow you are, only that you came back.
